Sr. Web Engineer – PHP (Big Tent)

Big Tent (www.bigtent.com) provides a free, secure online platform that medium- and large-sized groups use to make themselves more effective. We help groups take care of membership, dues collection, communication, recommendations, and many other functions, freeing up group members and leaders to spend time doing what they care about most. We have hundreds of groups and thousands of members using our site every day – including neighborhood groups, PTAs, alumni associations, mother’s clubs, etc.

We recently closed a $5M round with Menlo Ventures and Mohr Davidow Ventures. We’re well on our way to building a great company as well as a powerful technology solution to share with community groups.

Big Tent is located in South Park/SOMA, San Francisco with a small team of passionate super-achievers, motivated by building a great business with a tangible impact on how real-world groups communicate and support each other every day.
Job Description

You will work on the database and application layers of our application as we continuously increase the functionality and scale of our application.

Requirements

* Expert knowledge of PHP, database design and implemention in MySQL, object-oriented programming, and XHTML * Experience scaling Web applications, including at least basic knowledge of LAMP stack installation and configuration * 4+ years of Web development experience with proven ability to deliver a polished product * BS/MS Computer Science degree strongly preferred * Energized by the opportunities and challenges of a start-up

Desirable

* Experience in administering systems or networks * Experience with CSS, JavaScript, and other Web front-end technologies
